Frederick Hoyland was born in 1898 in the Barnsley area. He married in Rawmarsh in 1917 Sarah annie Baker and I have found the family on the 1921 census.
There is a death for Frederick in 1922 in Rotherham and as his job was a miner was wondering if he died in some accident etc.
I have found nothing on FMP but there again I could easily have missed something.
If anyone can find any info on the above it would be appreciated it might be that he died from an industrial disease and hence will find nothing except on death cert.
Hi Fred,
If you are referring to the Maltby Main Colliery disaster, according to reports it took place in July 1923 with 27 deaths and one body unidentified. The website did not mention the names of the dead.
GRO records show: the Fred Hoyland born 1898 died in the March quarter of 1922 he was 24 years old. There was also a Frederick William Hoyland died December quarter 1922 age 64 (B:c1958.). also in the Rotherham area. No more info as yet.
HAPPY HUNTING :sleuth_or_spy:
Wendy thank you. It is my fred that died in 1922 because I've found his burial in Rawmarsh cemetery and the address is the same as where he lived when married. Must have just been an illness perhaps through breathing in coal dust
Hi John S, Do you have his death certificate ? If so it would almost certainly show if teh circumstances of his death were anything unusual. If you haven't get it from GRO at https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/. You can get a pdf copy for £8 or full official certificate for £12.50 - all information on the latter is on the pdf version though - you have to download that once they have prepared it.
John
