Hi all , trying to find a photo of my dads birth mother, mary jane phillips nee grayson, she died in 1943/44 of tb, when my dad Peter was only months old.
My grandad remarried very quickly as they did then, but he destroyed all photos and details of her, my dad didnt find out until he was old that my gran wasnt his real mum.
I would love to get a photo for him before he shuffles off this mortal coil.
Her family had unusual names , Israel Grayson ! Any help would be appreciated , or if you need any more detailed dates etc, then please contact me.
Thanks in advance .

Thanks hugh , any help is gratefully received, i tried a while ago to get a photo, i posted on sheffield forum in 2011, i got a reply in 2014 from some distant relatives in 2014, but it never showed up on my system until recently , i re-contacted them but havent recieved any reply, so im branching out to try and get a photo of dads mum at any age , it would mean so much to him .
Thank you again for your reply.
Cheers lee.
Hi Lee, I’m afraid I don’t have a photo but do share a family tree. My great grandma was Mary Jane Grayson, but she would have been a niece of this Israel Grayson and grand daughter of Israel and Ellen Furnace. Her dad was Isaac Grayson. Israel Sr moved to Heeley (Oak Steet) and is buried in Derbyshire Lane Cemetary.
No photo either but Lucy, is your Mary Jane Grayson the one that married Joshua Shaw in 1927 and had a daughter Betty in 1928? this is on my friends family tree
Lee I assume you know that Israel Grayson 1886 to 1948 is buried in Tinsley Park Cemetery in Sheffield, not sure if there is a headstone and isn't buried with his wife Betsy nee Anson.
Hi , yes ive been to Israels grave at at Tinsley Park, my mum is also buried there , as is my dads mum Mary Jane Grayson, my dad owns her plot and visited it when he was able to . I think there was a lot of confusion with the burials as there is 2 Israel Graysons ( related) and both lived on the same street in Attercliffe !
Thank you for the reply , it is very much appreciated 🙂
Regards
Lee
