Hi,
I have found a photograph of my mother with the photographers details on the back. It was taken about 1940.
I can find no details of the photographer and the houses on Hollythorpe Road appear to be residential. Possibly built at a later date to replace others.
As my mother lived in the Sheffield 6 area I wondered why she would have travelled to Sheffield 8 for a portrait photograph to be taken or whether the photographer would have had more than the Hollythorpe Road studio.

So as a Press Photographer he probably didn't have a traditional studio and may have been freelance.

You might want to try posting on Sheffield Forum as that has a wider Sheffield audience and someone may have memory/knowledge of him.

thank you.
Probably explains why a Sheffield 6 photographer was not used as he probably covered the whole of Sheffield.
As it was war time he probably set up a studio in the city centre so that young women could have portraits taken to send to their boyfriends/family serving abroad.
I left Sheffield Forum over a year ago.

There's a newspaper article on his marriage - he grew up in S6 and was a photographer employed at The Sheffield Independent and Sheffield Mail.
