George Frederick Whiteley mystery

George Frederick Whiteley born 12 Nov 1901 parents were John Henry Whiteley and sarah Ann nee Taylor born at 9/3 Bard Street.

Now my problem I have also found a baptism of a George Frederick Whiteley born 19 Apr 1894 at the same house and with the same parents so I am assuming this one must have died prior to 1901.

However I am unable to find a death or burial for this one so I was wondering could someone else check this out please as I am sure and extra pair of eyes will help. I must be having a senior moment and missing the answer.

TIA

John

Re: George Frederick Whiteley mystery

Hello,

I have had a good look at the family in question and I have not been able to find any burial for another George Frederick before 1901.
What I did notice was that there is also no birth registration for George Frederick in 1894 but there is a baptism. Looking at the family I noticed that Maurice Whiteley was born in 1894 to the same parents. There is no baptism recorded for him but there is a birth registration. What I think may have happened is for some reason Maurice was baptized with the name George Frederick. This could be easily proven by ordering Maurice birth certificate which would give his date of birth. You could then cross reference this with the baptism of George Frederick (which was in the same year and does state his birth date). If the two dates match, it will give you clearer picture.

Well spotted Rich! In the 1921 census (taken on 19th June) Maurice was 27 years and 2 months old which would indeed support a birth in April 1894.

Re: George Frederick Whiteley mystery

Thank you both will have to look into getting the record for Maurice, it is strange that also this family had a child in 1903 called Annie Elizabeth but she was buried as Jane, I have a receipt for this, I have contacted bereavement services to see if they have any other info but as yet I have had no reply.

The address I used was sheffield.breavement@sheffield.co.uk

I assume this is correct as I have had no bounce back but at the same time I have had no Acknowledgement either so I ca only hope there is a long wait.

The email address you've used for Bereavement services is incorrect.
