It could be a register office marriage, which won't be on any site.

No.

Re: william smith marriage to Stella enstock 1920

There's a newspaper report which mentions a Miss Stella Enstock being a bridesmaid at the wedding of her sister Clara Ellen. Is that your Stella? If so, the sister was married at the Wesleyan Chapel in Pleasley, so maybe that's one place to check out.

Re: william smith marriage to Stella enstock 1920

Heather, Thank you for that, it is a very good shout because Pleasley is the area where William died in 1972 and Pleasley is in Derbyshire I think.

I think William married in the Mansfield area because if I remember he was a miner (not touched this tree for ages so will have to did my full notes out)

Come to think of it I dont think I have found him on the 1921 census either so thats something to check out.

Re: william smith marriage to Stella enstock 1920

Hi John,
William and Stella Smith are also on the 1939 census along with two other closed records (possibly grandchildren..??) The residence is at Blackwell, near Bolsover I think..??

I have also found a probate record for a Stella Smith, last residence 46 New Terrace, Upper Paiseley, Notts. Probate date 10th December, 10th December, 1987, Manchester. Stella died 10th Sept,1987 aged 91.
HAPPY HUNTING. :sleuth_or_spy:
