I have jsut been on the website to search if there is a will for 1973 and when I put in a name it gives me lots of pages. is it me or has the option to go to a certain page vanished?
ie it starts apage 1 for surname A and as the surname I am interested in starts with S do I have to click on "Next Page" loads of time until I reach S or am I missing the "Go To" page option
If you keep clicking "next page" you will arrive at the page you want within a few pages. The indexing picks up people where the name you want is in part of their name.
The problem is it also picks up place-names, names of executors etc. It is sometimes helpful to add a keyword to the search, e.g. place-name.
This is the beta version of the search engine which is not a good as the original. They have asked for feedback but apparently do not read it. (Several criticisms on RootsChat.) Also, when you do find a record you can no longer reference a specific page in the database.
