!!! Over 1.5 million records on our site !!!

Hello everyone

Thought you may be interested to see how many records we now have online

Total records on site so far 1,564,117

Baptisms 398280
Marriages 155222
Burials 559918
Trade Directories and Burgess Rolls 275527
School Admissions 71786
1841 Census 138826
MI's 4558

So a huge thank you to all transcribers, helpers, photographers and checkers past and present who have made and continue to make this all possible.

Sadly in November this year we had to say goodbye to our friend Ernest Burniston born in Sheffield but lived in sunny California, USA. His wife Bella said ‘he found great interest and took pride in the work that he did transcribing the indexes. He would type them, we would check them together after he hunted down any discrepancies. He just loved doing this. It was like an enormous puzzle to him’. Ernie’s work will help others in their research and is a fitting and lasting tribute.

Very well done to all transcribers for a wonderful effort. This site is arguably the best family history data website for anywhere in the country.
A Happy Christmas to everyone !

Well done to all concerned.
It's the site I return to several times a day not only to search the information but also to read all the interesting posts of how other people are progressing in their own research.
Thanks to everyone on Sheffield Indexers.
