I was a big fan of Knightmare from the very first episode right through to the end. It was one of the best things I'd ever come across on childrens television. At the time, I was also into the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks (a huge success during the 80's and early 90's - by terrible coincidence, they finished in 1995, around the same time as Knightmare). I loved the medieval/sorcery atmosphere and tough challenges, success of which relied on the team's co-ordination, speed, and wit. It was great fun anticipating what lay in wait within the next room! The various characters were brilliantly portrayed by skilled actors who obviously enjoyed such intriguing roles. I was so sorry to see the show end. Like many fans who still bear fond memories, I often revisit 'Knightmare' on Youtube, playing the opening titles (which does me the world of good!) and watching various archived quests. BTW: one of these vids is stamped with the Challenge logo; seems like this channel bought the rights after all? Knightmare was a great series which helped me through some difficult times and gave me fond memories. |

if they ever boguth this back i think it should be for older people because kids nowdays are intrested in stuff for 30 seconds and if knightmare was to come back i think it should use 3d tech where the dungeonner is in a room with projected walls and floor and ceeling but still ahve the helmet of justace on but can see into the room abit better but not much if anyone wants me to test a nightmare game out for real let me know but only if lord fear is in it :D i hope this does come back if not to tv maybe a playstation 3 game imagine what that would be like - a game with multiple rooms that play out random each time that might be a good game |

I remember Knightmare very well as a child, it was one of my favorite shows! So sad that it doesn’t look as if it will be repeated or TV again, nor will there be a new series. This is such a shame for the new generation. I am an advocate of fantasy and I remember fondly the fireballs and the bolt of thunder used for entrances of characters and for spell casting and I was in absolute awe . I remember how much I used to look forward to Fridays, knowing Knightmare would be on and how frustrating you could only watch an episode of around 25 minutes! You were constantly kept on your toes and fuming you had to wait another week for the next part! I think this show became successful because it offered something different…it was the only computer generated game show, something unheard of and technology at the time was still in its early stages. But what people didn’t realize It wasn’t just a show where you just watched the programme…it made you think! For example there were puzzles and causeways and I can always remember cringing in my chair whenever a dungeoneer was in Imminent danger e.g the corridor of blades… the excitement and the adrenaline… the hope the duneoneer would complete the quest! It such a shame that a new series has not been developed because at the time there were serious technological limitations at to what could be achieved and despite this, the show was a huge SUCCESS! Due to significant advances of technology of today, the knightmare Team have a lot more technology to play with and as a result each episode would not be as expensive as it previously was-which was also problem- I suspect. Also it is likely owing to technological advances that should a new knightmare come to fruition, it may be even better than the old series (assuming the original team who made the show were in charge). I’m not going to go into detail about which Season I liked the most, but I would say that each season had its good and bad points, for example the earlier seasons lacked a “true” baddie, but on the other hand the entire quest was entirely in computer generated rooms, which is something I really liked why? Because knightmare is supposed to be scary! A place of illusion… I remember when the Dreadnought (the robot) was introduced to the show, it was downright scary to me as a child, the mechanical noise he used to make when facing the dungeoneer or when Lord fear eyes went red when he realized someone was spying on him thru the spy glass. While I liked the seasons when Knightmare was based in a castle, it wasn’t as scary as the earlier seasons. My earliest memory of knightmare has to be the room at the beginning of the first series when the dungeoneer has to roll the dice and “take a chance” to start their quest. One of my favourite moments was when the dungeoneer was blocked from leaving the room due to Malice’s head and the team casted a spell “Fire” F I R E (bolt of lightening struck Malice and she retreated screaming in pain), that was absolute classic. Hordriss the confuser was my favorite character I shall now depart.. Spell casting!! D I S M ISS |

This was the show that I would never miss as a kid along with the BBC forerunner, 'The Adventure Game'. Both these shows put me on the slippery slope into eternal RPG geekery! Tregard Rocks |

Knightmare was probably my favourite TV show as a child. It was perhaps the only thing on TV that catered to my interest in heroic fantasy, and that challenged my mind. We need something like this back on TV for a new generation, instead of the lowbrow nonsense that's poisoning our kids. |

One of my favourite programmes as a kid, I would have been 7-14 during its run (almost 30 now). When I was about ten I grew an acorn in a pot and I named it Oakley. :) Despite this, I'd not given Knightmare much thought in the subsequent years until discovering Gary Garratt's fine work on Youtube this March. Re-watching the whole thing was a highly enjoyable and it was amazing how much of it I was able to remember, although watching it as a adult I also found that I was embarrassingly attracted to Lord Fear. :D |
