Hi Elaine
I have the following birth records
John O’brien 1866 Oct -Dec Chorlton Lancs v8c p519
James O’Brien 1869 Jan-Mar Chorlton Lancs v8c p603
Thomas Bryan 1871 Jul-sep Sheffield v9c p456
Walter Bryan can’t locate but baptised 24 May 1874
Joseph Bryan 1879 Oct-Dec Sheffield v9c p553
Also Charles William Bryan Oct-Dec Sheffield v9c p556
ANNE, That is the wrong person. The correct Theresa was 42 and died in March 1890. It is possible she was buried as Theresa Brown or Brian or Brien or even O'Br*n.
DAVE
The reason I asked about the children was that when I looked at Charles William BRYAN on the GRO index the mothers maiden name is Mettam?
Where were the children baptised especially Walter... MMN other than Charles was Burns.
Could Teresa have died after the birth of Walter and his father re married??
Hi Elaine
Charles William Bryan born Dec quarter 1882 Sheffield, mother’s maiden name is Burns.
The other post about the death of Teresa Brown is the correct person, incorrect surname in the reports Kind regards Amanda
I had Charles William as being born in 1885 as I believe the 1891 census had him down as being seven years old. It was hard to read..... I believe he was with his older brother John.
Amand,
To get back to the original question, ie the missing burials of James Bryan, 1885 and his widow Theresa 1890.
Looking at the newspaper reports I assume there was no burial for James in 1885. He died in a vat of molten metal. I suggest there may have been no identifiable remains to bury.
As to his widow who died in Attercliffe in 1890: I note that our Burial records for Attercliffe Cemetery stop at 1887 and it seems that FMP is the same. I suggest you obtain the S&DFHS CD of those burials from Genfair at a cost of under £4
Dave
Hello Dave,
Sorry for the late response. I’ve just been a bit overwhelmed by the responses on here. I’m going to get a copy of that CD as this makes the most sense given the location of where they lived and the fact that other family members are buried at Attercliffe. I’ve had a bit of a break from researching my family history But have re-looked at some of the newspaper articles regarding James’ accident. One of the articles just say that his body was recovered with some difficulty, But like you did think there may not have been anything left to bury. Kind regards, Amanda
Presume you have death certificate for james. Who registered it and if child are the surnames spelt the same? Could Theresa be actually buried back in Ireland with her parents?
