Re: Transcription enquiry

Hi Dave,

Funny you should mention that. I had had also noticed that but thats what it says in the register. I wonder if the (1) & (2) mean something else. I had thought it might mean the order in which they were buried but looked at it again and thats not the reason.

BUT that pinpoints the section at least. (U).

Elaine.

Re: Transcription enquiry

Re: Transcription enquiry

FamilySearch.org has the burial record for Millicent Barstow.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-L9F6-LPN?i=97&cat=444385 (image 98).

The section looks like U1.

On the next line is the burial record for Amelia Doane. It also looks like U1, grave 663. That is in the burial records on this site as Section U1.

But Frederick Barstow is in V1 1066.
And in the records here for DOANE, William Aloysius in 1954 is Section U1 grave 663. Pointing us to Section U.

Image 432 has the record for DOANE, William Aloysius looks like V1 or U1, take your pick.

But on the line above Doane there is the record for Harry Dukes. That is very clearly in Section U. The U has a wee tail.

I think the Barstow and Doane burials are in section V1.

Re: Transcription enquiry

There is no plot number 1066 in section V1. section V1 graves start with a 7.

Re: Transcription enquiry

Ouch.
Either way be fairly confident they share the same plot:
Remarks in the register, seem similar, as I read them:
Frederick Barstow 1946: 9 Row Low side 18 f(rom?) near side
Millicent Barstow 1948: 9 Row L(ow?) S(ide) 18 f(rom?) near side

Re: Transcription enquiry

Afternoon Guys,

If you look at our Burial Records over to the left and there you will notice that one of the headers says "MAPS".

Look for the one for City Road.

Left hand side of the page you will see there is a section for "U" and one also for "U1. That is probably why the error was made by the recording clerk at City Road. There are two sections of "U's" as I noted above.

Sooooo husband and wife are probably in the same grave in U1.

And so ends the mystery.

Elaine.
