I am currently checking out Ecclesfield Methodist Chapels for when we are ready to start transcribing.
What I am finding there are two mentions of chapels.
1. Mount Pleasant "The Lound"
2. Mount Pleasant "Thorncliffe".
In the S&DFHS Booklet Small Guide to Nonconformist & RC Churches.
It states Mount Pleasant Chapel, Ecclesfield
Quote.. the chapel was near Thorncliffe Iron Works. Bap 1823- 1943. Marriages 1868-1988

On the 1855 OS (6in) map the Mount Pleasant Chapel (Wesleyan) is named as such in a place called Lound Side and next to a National School called Lound School. Lound Side is just to the north of (or in fact part of) Chapeltown.
The Thorncliffe Iron Works is half a mile to the North.
So I think that the two places referred to are the same place.
The Mount Pleasant Chapel still exists, converted into flats. Its address is 145 Lound Side.
On the 1905 OS (25in) map there are New Connexion and Weseyan chapels in Ecclesfied Village itself. I don't know if any records survive from those chapels.
Hugh, I agree, you’re right that they’re the same place.
Picture Sheffield has photos of “Mount Pleasant Church, 145 Lound Side” of “Mount Pleasant Methodist Church, Lane End” and of “Mount Pleasant Wesleyan Chapel, Lane End.”
From the photos they are all the same building - they have the same tower.
