Looking for the burial of Edwad Alcock in 1926 in City Road Cemetery Sheffield.

Please could anyone confirm the above burial? I believe Edward was born in County Sligo Ireland in 1863. He came to Sheffield and married Eliza Maria Morrisroe aka Mary in 1895. At the time Edward died they were living at 48,Catherine Road, Pitsmoor.

Thank you very much for your help.

Elizabeth

Re: Looking for the burial of Edwad Alcock in 1926 in City Road Cemetery Sheffield.

Hi Elizabeth,

If you look over to the column on the left hand side and select Burials, you’ll find him if you search on Edward Allcock.
It brings him up as being in grave number 4713 section HH
Click on “Find similar in same grave” and that brings up his widow Maria, buried in the same plot in 1938.
Both of 48 Catherine Rd.

PS - in case you don’t already have the info, the 1911 census says Edward and Mary were both from Gurteen in Sligo.

Heather

Thank you very much for your reply, that is very helpful and I appreciate it very much.

I already had the information previously but somehow I lost it and couldn't get the burials site to work again for City Road Cemetery. I am trying to get the information for a gentleman I have recently connected with and to whom I am related.

I haven't used Sheffield Indexers for a long time but I remembered that I could rely on you.

Once again thank you very much.

Re

"I couldn't get the burials site to work again for City Road Cemetery."

Morning Elizabeth,

If you are still having problems accessing the burials please have it checked out by our Webmaster Denise.

Her email address is on the front page of our site.

If you can't get hold of her please contact me.

Elaine.

Still cannot access Sheffield Indexers.

Hello Elaine

I haven't been on Sheffield Indexers for quite a few years now so because I am having problems accessing the site I am blaming myself for not being able to remember how to use it.

I have seen that other people are having problems also.

Now when I try to access any part of Sheffield Indexers it takes me straight through to Microsoft Edge News. I have no idea what has happened.

I couldn't contact the Webmaster. Please can you help?

Thank you very much.

Elizabeth

Re: Still cannot access Sheffield Indexers.

Hi Elizabeth,

Such a pain when these computers don't do what we want them to do.

I have forwarded your message to Denise and I am sure she will get back to you and sort your problem out.

We do have a problem with access at times due to security measures not of our making. Denise will lead you around it and though it may say insecure the site is secure. We are an old site with old programming but we are still working away transcribing.

Always here if you need further help.

Elaine.

Re: Still cannot access Sheffield Indexers.

Hello again Elaine

Thank you very much for contacting me again and for passing on my problem to Denise. She has sent me an email and I will contact her. She said she would talk me through the problem. I am wondering if it is of my own making and if I may have inadvertently somehow clicked on a button and changed my browser.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hello Elaine

Sorry to be a nuisance but I have replied to Denise's email but it has come back as cannot be delivered.

She wondered which Browser I am using and I'm wondering if I have done something wrong at this end.

I'll keep trying here.

Thank you very much.

Hello Elaine

I have been looking into the problems with Sheffield Indexers and people are reporting that the site is not secure, Autofill has been turned off, there is no email address on the Website, links to the Webmaster and other named people do not open.

I have tried but I cannot reply to Denise.

Hope this information helps you.

PLEASE NOTE
If you are experiencing problems accessing the
Parish Records, Burials and Message Forum pages
please contact the Webmaster directly

Morning Elizabeth,

That is the message on the front page of our Website. NOTE the WEBMASTER is highlighted.

denise.dl@gmail.com

is her address.

the initial is an "L" after the d.

I wonder is you have just bookmarked the Forum URL rather than the whole site?
As I stated in an earlier email the site is secure we are an old site with old programming that throws up that message. BUT there is a way around it.

Elaine.

Re: Have had an email from Denise, have replied to her but it has come back as cannot be deivered.

Elizabeth......

I gave you an incomplete email for Denise.

Its.....

denise.dl782@gmail.com

Thats an lower case "L" after the d.

Elaine.

Hi Elizabeth

Not sure why you haven't been able to reply to my email. But I see Elaine has given you the address again to try.

The original problem you were having which you reported to Elaine is not one I've come across so far, so I hope you can now reach me so we can try and see what's happening.

Hello Baldy

What a surprise to receive the message this morning that you had been to City Road Cemetery and uploaded the photograph of the very impressive Grave of Edward Alcock and his wife Mary Eliza Maria Morrisroe.

Thank you very much I am very grateful for it. I will send it on to David Shaw who lives in Cornwall and is related to Edward Alcock. I am related to Mary Eliza Maria Morrisroe who was my grandfather's cousin.

I am sure David will be very pleased as I am.

Thank you once again.

Kind regards.

Hello Baldy

I have sent the Grave photograph of Edward Alcock and Mary Eliza Maria Morrisroe Alcock on to David Shaw in Cornwall. Like me he is very pleased with it and thanks you very much. The photograph finishes off a branch of our research.

Thank you very much once again.

PS Hope you didn't get too wet in City Road Cemetery when you were taking it.

Kind regards.
