I have young George Henry buried at St.Mary Brammall Lane, 25 Aug 1878 age 2.

IBBOTSON, George Henry (Bachelor, age 21, Engine tenter, residing at 15 Ct Bailey Fields).
Married Clara Elizabeth MUSGREAVES, on December 27, 1875, by Sam Geo Potter (Banns) at
St Luke, Hollis Croft. Father's name is James Ibbotson (Engine tenter). So Ann should no be illegitimate?

The 1910 marriage to Albert Owen says her father was George Henry Ibberson, engine tenter, deceased.
That occupation tallies with George’s marriage to Clara.

Wonder if mary was older then she said the. When she married in 1910 what age did it give?

On her 1st Marriage she is 18 years (October 1899)
on her 2nd Marriage she is 29 years (December 1910)

In the 1901 census I have her as aged 20
in the 1911 census I have her as aged 29


I am also struggling to locate any further details for her father A George Henry Ibbotson born 1854 approx - he appears on no census records. with his wife or with possible parents. He give the name of James (also an engine tenter) as father on his marriage to Clara Elizabeth Musgraves.

I cannot find census records for Clara for 1881 nor 1981? I am really struggling here.

I did find a birth record for George Henry Ibbotson, however I cannot confirm if this is his actual birth record as I cannot locate him on a census to verify!!

Perplexed.
Any help would be great.

Looking at the 1911 census I note that Mary Ann Owen 29 states her birth place as Stone Gravel Derbyshire. I can not find a place called that but it did lead me to aggregate stone sites. Does that ring any bells?

Theres a baptism record in May 1881 Chesterfield, for Fred Ibbotson. Father George, Occupation Engineer, Mother Elizabeth (I think Clara Elizabeth is on one of the census as just Elizabeth?). Address Stonegravels.

That would tie in with Mary Anns place of birth as Stonegravels/Chesterfield, but doesn't get us much nearer - if indeed it is related(?).

I have analysed the various ages at different events for Mary Ann and it is clear that her date of birth was in late 1881.
To repeat what I said earlier the only Mary Ann Ibb*n birth registered in that period and area was Mary Ann Ibbertsen in COLCHESTER in Q4 1891. OK she had no mother maiden name recorded but that could be an error by the person who registered it.

I also noted on the 1911 census there are four Castleton children in the household. The fourth is Albert but says he's illegitimate.

Next finding.... Alfred George Castleton aged 32 died December qtr 1907 and is also in that grave at City Road.

Not what you asked for but I always need to get a better feel for the family.

I like the findings of Denise with Stonegravel being in Chesterfield. Thats where I would concentrate the research.

Elaine.[/quote]Thanks, I found the burial for Clara and her daughter (also daughter's first husband and first born child) but do not know who the other 1 month old is in the grave - had a quick look at birth mother for the 1 month old but doesn't seem connected. I am still struggling to find either Clara and Mary Ann on the 1891 census. I have gone through ancestry with a fine tooth comb!
I will continue.

I have these in the wife's tree mainly Musgreaves and offsprings not much help in your search I have Ibbotson-George Henry 1876 and Fred 1879.
