Re: What happened to Elsie Rowbotham / Ford

It was definitely James Walter Ford. His WW1 papers are available on FMP. His marriage to Elsie Rowbotham is shown in there (Feb 1915). Elsie was at an advanced stage of pregnancy.
From FreeBMD their daughter Elsie Ford was born in Q2 1915 and died shortly after birth.
James Walter was called up and was attested in December 1915.
He was moved around several different regiments and finished up in Durham Light Infantry. He was demobilised in early 1919.

Again from Free BMD they had a daughter Catherine Ford mmn Rowbotham in 1923 in Nottingham. That fits with their address in 1921 census in Nottingham

I have so far been unable to trace the family anywhere in 1939 register.

Correction, the army papers for James Walter Ford are on Ancestry.

Re: What happened to Elsie Rowbotham / Ford

Hi

I know Elsie's dad was in The Salvation Army.
Also one of the sisters who also ended up in Nottingham. So this must be them.

The 2 addresses in Wales from parents death certificates. Perhaps they moved there to do with the Salvation Army.
Didn't know they had any more children.
So will look out for Catherine.

Thanks
Mark
