Burial in Tinsley Park Cemetary

Hi
Can anyone help me with a burial in Tinsley Park Cemetary please for a Harold Jeffcock who died in Blackpool in June 1942 but was buried in Sheffield in I believe Tinsley. I wondered if there was a gravestone with details on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Burial in Tinsley Park Cemetary

Evening Karen,

JEFFCOCK, Harold (, died on ?, at the age of 51).
Resided at 712 Brightside Lane, Sheffield and buried on 18-06-1942 in ? ground;
Grave Number ?, Section ? of Tinsley Park Cemetery, Tinsley.

You could try Bereavement Services at City Road and see if they have more information. i.e. who else maybe in the grave.

I am more than sure you are going to be out of luck as this is what I understand re Tinsley Cemetery.
It was originally known as Attercliffe New Cemetery when it opened in 1882.

The originals records are held at Sheffield Archives (1882-1991)
There are NO MI's listed.

Thats all the info I have.

Elaine in Ottawa.

Re: Burial in Tinsley Park Cemetary

Thank you Elaine
I may have found the plot number which would be UA74gp
Does that help at all?

Re: Burial in Tinsley Park Cemetary

Hi Karen.

I have the transcriptions for Tinsley Park, they were transcribed by the Family History Society
and are available at https://genfair.co.uk/ for a small charge.
There is only 1 burial in this plot.

If you are on Facebook Tinsley Park have their own Facebook page and someone will check for you if there is a gravestone.

Re: Burial in Tinsley Park Cemetary

Hi Angela
Thanks for the info. If there is only one burial in the plot then I am assuming it must be Harold's. I know the name of his wife (who remarried after his death) just not when she died and was hoping I might for reference to her being buried there too.

Hi Karen.

Yes it is just Harold in the plot.

Thanks Terry for the additional info.
Can I ask what level of access on Ancestry you need to find this please as I can't seem to find it?

Also does anyone know how much
£1683 4s 10d would be in today's money?

Re: Burial in Tinsley Park Cemetary

Hi Karen,

Google for a site that will give you the currency equivalent of today. I have used it in the past.

Elaine.

Re: Burial in Tinsley Park Cemetary

Just literally done that lol.
Roughly £59K in today's money.
Thanks

Karen

Re: Burial in Tinsley Park Cemetary

The info is from Ancestry's England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1995
I have a standard world wide (called something like that) subscription.
Simple search: Harold Jeffcock died England 1942.

Re: Burial in Tinsley Park Cemetary

Hi Karen

Sorry about the previous post - made a typo.

The Probate/Will index can be searched for free at: https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/

The site has been altered recently and to be honest I do not find the viewing of the resulting will pages to be as accurate, or as easy to view as they were before.

However, just fill in the brief details on the first page and click 'Save and Continue' at the bottom of the page.
Then go to the bottom of the second page and again press 'Save and Continue'.
On the resulting page, go to the bottom of the page and you should be able to work alphabetically through the surnames, a page at a time to find the person you are looking for. The Will entry can sometimes be recorded in a year/years after the year in which the person died. So if the result you want is not there you can go back to the top of the results page and select Change to following year'.

Hope this helps

Kind regards

Leipzig
