The Jarwa tribe is one of the oldest tribes in the Andaman Islands. They have been living with the forests and following their traditions for a long time, and have maintained their own traditions and culture in spite of the modern development around them. The tribe is primarily residing in the protected forest land area and is relying on hunting, fishing and gathering for their livelihoods. The visitors are advised to respect the Government rules in order to maintain the privacy and way of life of the visitors. The knowledge of the history and tradition of the Jarwa tribe gives an idea of the rich tribal heritage of the Andaman region.
