Hi all,
Christopher Foss (could be Fosse)married (partnered) a cotton farmer, christian name Eunice who had a large cotton farm in Loachapoka. This would have started circa 1912, as Chris Foss of Balham South London, UK, left pregnant wife and two daughters (one my 101 yr old mother Celia Snelling) and their Brother Alfred to seek plumbing and carpentry work in the US. He was accompanied by his son Jimmy who, I think traded later on from Montgomery Al as an educational book salesman. Chris Foss(e) visited his family in UK in 1948. I believe he died, presumably on the farm in the early '60s. I believe the cotton farm(s) were called Home Farms and that he was known as pappa Foss(e) to the mainly afro-american farm workers, presumably descended from slaves.
If you can tell me whether he (and Eunice ?) are buried locally and what became of Jimmy who was born c1900 in S London and married a nurse we think, pleas either E mail me at the above address or write to:

Further to my message below, I wouldlike to clarify the message re 3 points:
1. The Loachapoka farm(s) were NOT "Inland" but "Home Farms"; I'm told by my Mother that there wer 5 farms.
2. Christopher Foss died in 1961.
3. James (or Jimmy) Fosse [ we believe he added the "e" ], Lived in Birmingham and not Montgomery as previously stated. My mother confirms that he sold schools equipment.
I am sorry, but my Mother never got to know the Surname of Christopher's wife / partner EUNICE who evidently owned Inland Farms. If he had married, it probably have been a bigamous one as he had a living wife in the UK till the 1950s and who I only met once.
PLEASE HELP if you know anything such as where he / they are buried. Where Jimmy is buried. I am now 67 but still hope to visit the area one day. It would make my 101 year old Mother happy to know where her dad is, even though he virtually orphaned her and her younger Sister Violet (deceased) and her younger Brother Alfred. The eldest Sister Vera, had emigrated to the US prior to her Dad, but died in New York of TB while still in her twenties.
Thank you again.
John C Snelling
