I have a counter set on my website pages, but it just shows the same number of hits on every page. How do I set a counter option that shows the number of hits that each individual page has gotten? I know that every person who visits my site is not looking at every single page and it seems that other websites show different numbers of hits on each page (like my work website). How do I set this option here? I have played around with unique visits and page views but both seem to always show the same number of hits on every page. What do I do to set my options so that every page counter shows the exact number of hits that particular page has had that day?
Can I install the same counter code on all my pages, or is the counter for just one page?
Each page visit or hit will cause your one counter to increment and record the referrer, so if you were to use the same counter on multiple pages, your statistics would be meaningless.
If you want to track individual pages, then use a different counter on each page. You can create up to 3 counters per account with the free service level and up to 25 counters with the Professional service level.
All you have to do is go to Bravenet Wiki and most answers are there
Don't forget that you can have more than one Bravenet account. At one time I had three in order to have nine free counters.
These days I only use Bravenet counters for my two blogs. For the other sites I use Statcounter which lets me examine the paths of individual visitors through the site.
Thank you Peter and Glyn for your fast responses. Ok, so how do I set up a different counter on each page? I followed Glyn's directions and even reviewed the PageCounter wiki page to make sure I was following their directions, but I'm still getting the same number of hits on every page. I left my old counter up (its at the very bottom of the page, just in case) and added a new counter to each page- the new counter does show a different number from the old counter, but that number is on every page- 4628. I made sure to drag the counter on each page to the "this page only" text box. What am I doing wrong??
