Hi Ken,

That's interesting. You would prefer the TD took a players personal time situation into consideration and not apply the 5 day penalty for an illegal move. Would you apply this only for your own countrymen or for all the players? Why not simply throw out the 5 day penalty if it's discretionary and only to be applied if it suits both the TD and the offending player?

In fact the rule is there and it applies regardless of the situation.

You don't understand the purpose of the long conditional. It's to force the player to consider many moves in a short number of days. He has 3 days to make move 40 but by offering past that if he takes more than 3 days he must also accept move 40 and make his move 41 as white or lose the game on time. Registering the move and conditional is for a record of the date he received it.

It's a nice trick and I've seen it more than once.
