The flaw in Gary´s reasoning is that its not only the conditionals to be used but the player has put himself in the awkward position where a clerical error leads to an ETL. However to lose the game it must be a second ETL. So I don't really know how often this situation could be applied to be used tactically. It wouldn't work on me as I always have a buffert of 10 days to the time limit and on more than 500 games I have never had an ETL yet.
Never-the-less, if you look at the postings here, I get the impression that the only reason to have conditionals in server play is to use it tactically. The player who belives that he made the move and now can rest will be disappointed to learn that the move was immediately returned.
