Champions League - cycle time

Dear Friends,

Originally each season of the Champions League was hoped to last about 24 months with the new season starting about 3 months after the previous ended. When the current season of the CL started on December 1st 2004, it was announced that the end date would be December 4th 2006. Now we have the recent announcement that May 1st 2007 will be the new end date and that the next season will start on September 1st 2007.

With the change to 10/50 time control, do you think this will speed things along enough?

Is there any interest in a faster time control of say 10/40?

Would the CL be good place to experiment with a reduction of total accumulated time?

Just some passing thoughts I had on a slow Monday afternoon.

All the best,
Grayling
