sunday cycle training

Our committee made a decision at a meeting last Saturday to review the Sunday morning cycle training arrangements.
I proposed that I would discuss this matter with Pat Coyle, chairman of shannonside cycling club, which was agreed.
Myself and Pat discussed the matter at length prior to and after last Sundays spin, and took into consideration a number of factors such as the views of members in both clubs, the changing dynamics of the groups now that the racing season is upon us, riders current fitness levels, improving weather and daylight conditions, etc.
Resulting from our discussions we have agreed the following arrangements.
- meeting time is 9-45 am. groups will depart at 10.00 am sharp. Be there on time or be left behind.
- In order to avoid the confusion which arises in forming the groups, from now on the they will assemble at the following points.
Novices, at the roundabout next to the main entrance door to the sports centre.
Intermediates, in the main car park,
A Group, adjacent to the skate park.
It is up to individuals to decide which group they wish to train with, and assemble at the relevant designated point.

We would also like to see more members move up to the A group, which is not actually much harder than the current intermediate group, and thereby allow the intermediate group return to a more manageable session as was intended at the outset.

We will continue to have experienced members accompany the novice group.
The intermediate and A groups will decide on the morning on a route as they see fit, but should continue to appoint a group leader on the day to keep control of the session.

Look forward to seeing how this works out.
Thank you-
Mick.
