Northumberland Baptism query

Yes I know not sheffield but I hope the sleuths on here can help.

Richard Bright baptised 28 Jan 1812 at Allendale and according to the transcript I have found his father was Richard Bright and his mother was Ann Beacher however I have not found the marriage for that so I am wondering has it been transcribed wrongly?

if anyone can find a baptism for the above which shows a pottential different surname for the mother it would be appreciated

Cheers

John

Parent Matthew Bright
Spouse Nancy Readshaw

Re: Northumberland Baptism query

Hi Barry,

Readshaw looks promising. I’ve got Beardshaw in my tree and have come across it written as Beacher.

Re: Northumberland Baptism query

Thanks folks, will have another study, Readshaw is in the tree if I remember but I know the father is Richard because of the baptisms of the other children.

Re: Northumberland Baptism query

Ann and Nancy may be interchangable names. I have an Ann whose baptism I eventually found as Nanny.

Sally, think I have to agree with you.

We have a deceased (2018) friend Ann. Everyone knew her as Nancy.

Re: Northumberland Baptism query

FamilySearch.org shows two records for the baptism. The difference is in the mother's names. One transcription has Ann Beacher, the other Ann Reinher. It looks like this has been a difficult transcription.

You can view the “Reinher” original at a FamilySearch center or affiliate (some libraries are).
