Edward Hannah

I'm doing a family tee for a friend and am stuck with Edward HANNAH. I have his birth in 1854 Wretham Norfolk.

1861 with parents Robert and Frances in Wretham, Norfolk
1871 with parents " " in Bedfordshire
1881 with sister Mary Ann (Thompson) and family 68 Birley St Sheffield
1891 with wife Emma and children Ct 10 1 H Harvest Lane. Emma died 1900
1901 no trace
1911 with new wife Mary 11 Stancer St
1921 with wife Mary 3 Langton Place.

1 I cannot find a marriage to Emma
2 I cannot find birth regs for children although have found baptisms in Neepsend
3 1901 census no trace but I think he "might" have been in the workhouse as his children were taken into care July 1901.

Hope someone can help.

Many thanks

Re: Edward Hannah

Hello Jenny

There was a marriage 11 Dec 1881 at Wicker Parish Church between Edward Hanner, 26 and Emma Hardy Stanley, 18.
Edward's father was Robert Hanner dec. No father for Emma.
Witneses = William Stanley and Elizabeth Stanley.

Re: Edward Hannah

Thanks so much for that Anne. Don't know why I couldn't find it...

Re: Edward Hannah

Think I've found some of the childrens birth reg under HANNER. I tried Hannah including name variants but these didn't show!

Re: Edward Hannah

Edward had a brother John who I've now found out married Mary Jane STANLEY (Emma's sister). It's difficult to sort out birth regs with both mother's maiden names being Stanley.

Re: Edward Hannah

From the marriage of Mary Jane Stanley....

STANLEY, Mary Jane (Spinster, age 18, ~, residing at 1ct Furnival Rd).
Married John HANNER, on July 26, 1885, by H Arnold Gem, Vicar (Banns) at
Holy Trinity, Wicker. Father's name is William Stanley (Gas Stoker).
Married in the presence of Edward Hanner,Mary Ann Easter.

You will see the fathers name & occupation was added when we transcribed the Church.

FMP also has the name listed as Hanner.

Elaine.

PS The 1881 Census gives you a better idea of where the family came from.

Re: Edward Hannah

In the 1901 census Edward Hanners (5) and his sister Bertha Hanners(10) are living with their grandparents William Stanley and his wife Elizabeth in Brightside. Meanwhile their younger brother Wiliam Hannah (3) is with a childless couple called Speed in Attercliffe.

Re: Edward Hannah

Thanks for the replies. I'm confused about Lottie b 1891 and Bertha b 1891. Could they be the same person?

Lottie's baptism takes place in 1895 with Edward and Emma as parents.

I found Bertha in 1904 in the House of Help for Friendless Women and Children and her burial, along with her baby on this site on 14th May 1909.

Edward married Emily Dewick in 1903 but she died in 1905

Edward tried to commit suicide in 1905.

Edward married Mary Wardle 1906.
