A recent find for my tree but wondered if anyone had a connection to the "Stanley" Clan of Oughtibridge.

There are hundreds of them who all seem to keep calling their children after one another for generations.

Farmers and File Cutters seem to be the main occupation.

I have used Sheffield Indexers PR's & burials. St Nicholas Bradfield/FMP/FreeBMD/Family Search and where able the GRO.

The two major links are Sarah Stanley & John Ibbotson Mar June 1849 John is a 1st cousin 4x removed
George William Stanley & Florence Alice Wilson mar 1891. Florence is a 2nd cousin 2x removed.
Wilson was my maiden name.

My main quest is making sure I am following the correct line. Confusing because of the repeat of names. i.e. two James Stanley recorded in the same year supposedly with the same parents. One month apart.

Elaine the james Stanley you talk about what year please? I shall look on my cds to see if I can find them both. It could be just a coincidence that both parents were called the same so we might not know fir sure. Will look when I'm ok as me and the wife got the dreaded flu and feel like jelly

Thats OK John I really wanted to contact another "Stanley" researcher. Oughtibridge is so small that I thought it would be easy. LOL

You rest up. Could it be COVID?? that new strain is causing some problem over here but the UK seems to get it first before we do. Our new vaccine for this strain is supposed to be available for us oldies next month.
