I am interested in finding out more about Ann Grace Chamberlain (maiden name Farmer). She appeared in the Census of 1901 as an inmate at Fir Vale Workhouse (Page 25 row 16). She was born in Liverpool in 1843. I have a death certificate for her husband George, who died in "Sheffield Workhouse no10" on 19th October 1900 but I have not yet found a death for Ann. Did she also die at the Workhouse or did she leave and live out her life elsewhere? Are you able to help? I am happy to pay if there are administration fees for any information. She was my 2xGreat Grandmother
The 1892 death is maybe a red herring.
There’s a baptism 20 April 1892 Darnall for an Ann Grace Chamberlain, parents Thomas Thornhill and Ada of 135 Ripon St.
That was presumably the child who died in 1892 (burial was also in Darnall)
Have you found ann in 1891 and how certain are you about the ann in 1901. Just that there is a burial for an ann chamberlain wife of a wagon builder in 1883 and is buried in Darnall cemetery the same as george but not in the same grave.
Thanks for the replies, I don't have a date of birth, her birth was 3rd qrt, Liverpool 1843 vol 20 page 336. I was aware of the death in 1892, my Grandmother's older sister. I'm sure of George and Ann both being alive in 1891 living at 152 Darnall Road. Can't be 100 percent sure about 1901, but the right age and born in Liverpool so looks quite likely
I think the Ann Chamberlain who died on 18 November 1883 would have been the wife of John Thomas Chamberlain, Georg's brother. He was also a wagon builder
