Railway Spring Manufacturer

My Great great grandfather Charles Robinson owned a Railway Spring Manufacturing Company in the mid 1850’s. Does anyone know the best way to find out the name and location of this business ? I believe he lived on Grimesthorpe Rd in Attercliffe at some point in the mid 1880’s. Any help would be appreciated

Re: Railway Spring Manufacturer

Charles' business was at the Albert Steel and Spring Works, Sussex street between Canal street, the railway bridge and the canal). See maps:

He left £1791 11s 2d in his will after his death on 9th July 1883 at Osgathorpe road (from probatesearch.service.gov ). There is an advert in the Sheffield Daily Telegraph of 8th December 1891 (page 4) listing all the firm's equipment which was being auctioned off.

Re: Railway Spring Manufacturer

Thank you so much for this information Ted, I started to look through the trade indexes, but soon realised I would need the company name. This has helped enormously with researching my family history.
