I am still looking for maps of Dobbin Hill Sheffield S117JG. I am trying to date a property called Upland Cottage. It was owned by the Reverend Bagshawe of Banner Cross Hall and was occupied from 1851 by two of his valued servants Mr and Mrs Walker on their retirement .The Reverend Bagshawe left them substantial annuities which allowed them to live in luxury ( judging from the auction of the contents of the house in 1860) . I am surprised that I cannot find any reference to the property being built probably sometime between 1840 and 1851 when the census shows the Walkers living there.
Any suggestions of where to look or anything you have come across gratefully received. Many thanks to everyone who responded to an earlier thread. I have found two maps 1790 Fairbanks map which is too early and the 1851 OS map which clearly shows the cottage but building must have started earlier than 1851.

Suggest you contact the West Yorkshire Archives Services, Register of Deeds, to find the deeds for that address. If you cannot visit (Wakefield) they do a research service at a cost of £27 for a 30 min search. You will find contact details on their website.

It shows reference number 42: Lower Close, House &c. The house is roughly "L" shaped in the same orientation as on the 1851 map, with two projections to the north. It is in exactly the same place as "Uplands Cottage" on the 1851 map.
Thank you for both replies . Upland Cottage was part of the BannerCross Hall Estate until 1950 so the deeds only go back to 1950 when it was sold .
Re the Fairbanks map the L shaped building is 4 cottages that predate Upland Cottage .If you look at the 1851 map there is a dwelling and an out building next to the cottages .
Thank you for the suggestions .
