https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QSQ-G96J-2DBF?i=45&cc=1473016&cat=444385 has an image of the register (image 46).
The section is very clearly T. The number is 4468 I think. The grave number is also coincidentally the same as the "number in order book". Slip of the pen?
But the image includes a description of the location.

"The numbers in section T do not appear to run to that number" A search here on section T City Road (with no names) has plenty of examples higher than 4468. The first in the list is 8888.

Re: William robert bernard

Thanks Heather....

Burnand, Wm Robert (child, age 1y 9mo).
Died at 4 Cross Smithfields; Buried on May 19, 1888 in Consecrated ground;
Grave Number 4468, Section T of City Road Cemetery, Sheffield.

From FreeBMD Deaths Jun 1888
BURNAND William Robert 1 Sheffield 9c 250

I have checked the original from the burial book and other than his surname may read BURNEND the other information is correct.

Elaine.

Re: William robert bernard

just an idea who were his parents please and when did they die? Not saying they are in the same grave but if this grave has a headstone he might be mentioned on it.

Ps Terry I am having difficulty looking at the image but what is the description of the location please?

Re: William robert bernard

plot 4468 is in section F and is petty close to the crematorium.

the plot numbers for section T start at 8147 and go to 9511. I wonder if it should be 8468 he is in?

Definitely is a T is it and not a fancy F where lets say the lower line is really faint.

Some of the writing is a bit murky

2nd row low side
18th fr Far Side. C__

Re: William robert bernard

Thanks Terry will check the plot maps tomorrow to see if I can work out the numbers and sections

Re: William robert bernard

Presume they mean 2nd row up from the low side and 18th plot in from the far side if this is the case the I think the number is possibly a typo if I am reading the plot map correctly then the number in section F I think is 3210 and section T is 8356.

I presume on plot maps FS is far side NS is near side and is that the same for all the plots?

I wonder if a call to bereavement services could help us on this as they could have more info in their database.

John

Re: William robert bernard

Hi thanks for the replies the grave numbers in section T are considerably higher than 4000s/ 5000s....it may possibly be a typo in the burial register? His parwnts are john and hannah bernard ( nee cutts) john is buried at city road cc 18400 with other bernard family members but there is no MI? As for mother hannah born abt 1847 im yet to establish her resting place

Re: William robert bernard

presume you have found the family on the 1901 census indexed as Barnards.

I like you though have not found a death yet of a burial for her.

some of the census have her called Anna but nothing coming up with that either.

do you know if she died before John?

As she was born in Derbyshire, could some family members still live in that county and if John died first could possibly have gone back to Derbyshire and it is there she is buried.
