Re: Help me find Percy Truelove, Sheffield, 1871

Ooh, thank you! That’s the closest we’ve ever got to finding him!

I’ll be researching that this evening

Thank you

Elaine in Ottawa Canada.
Morning,

A real puzzle.

After looking at the 1901 & 1911 census I wonder if the the Tredegar Iron Coal Company might have anymore info on him?

Do you have the 2nd marriage for him in 1923? Is his fathers name still John???
What was Mary Hannah's fathers name???

Elaine.
The marriage in 1923 was his son. Three of them all being called Percy Truelove is very confusing!

Mary Hannah’s father was George Evans

Thank you for looking

Over to the left in the baptism records, there’s a George Frederick Truelove born and baptised in 1874. Father John Truelove, an engine tenter. Mother Mary. Could George have been Percy’s brother?

Heths
I’m so excited by this, thank you.

We don’t know if he had siblings or not.

I mustn’t get too excited, but all the John Trueloves that I’ve researched so far have been spring makers, or cordwainers, or nail makers. To find one that has a connection to engines is exciting, though.

Thank you. Some work for me tonight, I think

Re: Help me find Percy Truelove, Sheffield, 1871

I believe this is the 'George Frederick TRUELOVE' mentioned above.
This is a funeral service in the church followed by a burial in the adjacent municipal cemetery BUT I do not know why the dates are different

'Burial' at Christ Church Attercliffe
TRELOAR, George Frederick (~, age 6).
Died at Attercliffe; Buried on January 2, 1881 in ~ ground;
Grave Number ~, Section ~ of Christ Church Cemetery, Attercliffe.

Burial in Attercliffe Municipal Cemetery
TRELOAR, George F (Son of J Treloar, age 6).
Died at Church St; Buried on December 31, 1880 in Consecrated ground;
Grave Number 2200, Section D of Attercliffe Cemetery, Sheffield.
Plot Owner: of . Page No J Hissett

The position of the name 'J Hissett' in the second record is odd. perhaps it should have been entered under 'Plot Owner'.

John TRELOAR (engine tenter), his wife Mary, and others under that name, are also buried in the municipal cemetery

"BUT I do not know why the dates are different"

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/143982986/john-treloar
has a an image of the well preserved memorial for
George Frederick Treloar 31 December 1880, 6
plus
Mary Treloar, Dec30 1883, age 43
John Treloar, Jan 1 1899, 69
Lillie, May 3 1875, 2 months
George Frederick Dec 31 1880, 6
Thomas John, Feb 9 1881, 17 years & 7 months

George Frederick's mother was formerly Barlow. I don't see a Percy etc Treloar, mother Barlow at GRO.

Thank you for searching. I do appreciate your help.

I looked at Treloar but couldn’t make the connection. However, you seem to have found more than I have, so I’ll look again.

Searching John and Mary Truelove I found baby George Frederick baptism, but then a burial aged 10 weeks. There was another child, Emily, 1876

I’ve tried looking back at John and Mary, to see if I could find an illegitimate Percy connected with the family. I’m still working on that one.

I’ll widen my searches to include Treloar as well as Truelove. I’ll also look at Hissett. Grasping at straws.

Thank you for your help.
