Re: Old neighbours

FMP doesn't have any entries for Short St in either the 1841 or the 1851 census. The earliest census record they have is in 1861 and there were only two households living on the road at that time.

Re: Old neighbours

To carry on from Heather's findings........

My old street directory list Short St as being off Carbrook St, Attercliffe Common.

I have tried all three possibilities in our 1841 census index (over to the left) with no luck.

Re: Old neighbours

The first mention I can find in the newspapers is in 1865.

On the 1854 OS map (surveyed in 1850/51) that location is fields

Re: Old neighbours

Judging by the heading I'm guessing we should be looking at *1941* :)

Re: Old neighbours

The first mention of Short Street in the Rate Books I indexed is in 1861. I only did every 10 years, so appeared sometime between 1851 and 1861.
