Found a newspaper article from 1785 concerning James and George Ridge. It was under the the title recognizances but I don't fully understand why they would have entered into one. Could someone explain please? Their occupations were nailor and brace bit maker. Would the amount against their name be shillings or pounds?
Jenny, based on many other similar Recognizances lists at the same time period the sums of money are £.
There is nothing specific given for the reasons for the many recognisances in the long list. Best bet is public disorder of some sort.
