What happened to Elsie Rowbotham / Ford

William and Fanny Rowbotham maiden name
Butterworth
Lived Brightside Lane had 5 daughters.
I know what happened to all of them except one.
This is Elsie born 1894 ?.
She married Charles William Ford 1915.
On death cert of father William 1934
Says daughter Elsie of 27 Beryl Road Barry Dock.
Then on death cert of mother Fanny 1935.
Elsie of 94 Pennant Street Ebbow Vale
Monmouthshire.

Been stuck on this a few years
unable to find anything else.

Did Elsie and Charles William Ford have any children ?.
Did they remain in Wales ?
When did they die ?.

Thank you
Mark

Re: What happened to Elsie Rowbotham / Ford

Hi Mark

Are you sure it was James William Ford?
In the 1921 census there's an Elsie Ford living 11 Harold Rd, Nottingham, (age 28 years 1 month) born Sheffield, with husband James Walter Ford (age 32 years 1 month) also born Sheffield. They were both officers in the Salvation Army.
Was there any mention of the Sally Army in connection with your Elsie?

Re: What happened to Elsie Rowbotham / Ford

It was definitely James Walter Ford. His WW1 papers are available on FMP. His marriage to Elsie Rowbotham is shown in there (Feb 1915). Elsie was at an advanced stage of pregnancy.
From FreeBMD their daughter Elsie Ford was born in Q2 1915 and died shortly after birth.
James Walter was called up and was attested in December 1915.
He was moved around several different regiments and finished up in Durham Light Infantry. He was demobilised in early 1919.

Again from Free BMD they had a daughter Catherine Ford mmn Rowbotham in 1923 in Nottingham. That fits with their address in 1921 census in Nottingham

I have so far been unable to trace the family anywhere in 1939 register.

Re: What happened to Elsie Rowbotham / Ford

Hi

I know Elsie's dad was in The Salvation Army.
Also one of the sisters who also ended up in Nottingham. So this must be them.

The 2 addresses in Wales from parents death certificates. Perhaps they moved there to do with the Salvation Army.
Didn't know they had any more children.
So will look out for Catherine.

Thanks
Mark
