Looking back through some research concerning my paternal grandparents, I noticed that on a sheet I printed from the Search burials page in October 2010 there were 2 unrelated individuals buried in Grave no 92 Section V1 in Burngreave Cemetery along with my grandparents, James Herbert and Charlotte Stevenson and 3 of their children, Arnold, Hilda and Elsie May.
When I look now, those 2 individuals Ernest and Robert Wardle buried with my grandparents I can't see, STRANGE !
A hiccup somewhere, what's it all about ?
The 2 Wardles were buried in 1878 and 1883
On that sheet i printed in 2010, the plot owner is down as my grandfather, JH Stevenson
of 7 Weigh Lane. I presume he bought the plot around the time of the burial of the first child in the grave, Arnold in 1894.
Why did he buy a plot that was already in use, were there no other empty plots available ?
Apologies folks, a bit long winded, but as always I am confident of some educated replies
I have not checked out what we have in our database as yet but I would suggest that you contact "Friends of Burngreave" who can check out who is in the grave for you.
They are the people who transcribed the cemetery.
Christine is the contact person.
Look over at Burial records and you will see her email address.
I think I have found the reason for the confusion re Burngreave Cemetery.
There is a CONSECRATED Side and the GENERAL Side both having the same numbering.
STEVENSON, James H (Grinder, age 72).

Grave Number 92, Section V1 of Burngreave Cemetery, Sheffield.
Parent or Next of Kin if Available: . Remarks: Officiating Minister: J W Hutchinson: Removed from Sheffield Parish.
WARDLE, Robert (Roller, age 57).

Grave Number 92, Section V1 of Burngreave Cemetery, Sheffield.
Parent or Next of Kin if Available: . Remarks: .
It's up to you if you want to contact Christine or not.
A lesson learned.
The grave reference I gave for Burngreave Cemetery applies to 2 sections, General and Consecrated.
My grandparents are in one section and the 2 Wardle individuals who at first I thought were buried alongside them, are in another section.
Worth making a note for those of you with an interest in Burngreave Cemetery
Now if I had been smart, I would first have had a look at a map of that cemetery and seen that the same grave reference appeared in both sections !
