Having trouble finding this family in 1861.

1851 4 Suffolk Lane

Joseph b 1807 Brace and bit filer
Elizabeth b 1805 Ecclesfield
Sarah b 1830 Ecclesfield
George b 1840 Sheffield
Joe b 1843
Mary A b 1847

they also had a daughter Jane b 36 Ecclesfield who was in service in 1851.

Would especially like to find Jane. She later married John Harris in 1868

Could Joseph and Elizabeth have died?

There are two possible deaths I have found

1. Joseph Ridge buried at Ecclesfiled in 1857 aged 49

but if still alive in 1861

2. Joseph Ridge buried at the General Cemetery in 1890 aged 83 and he was a metal smith

3. marraige for Jane.. found this....

27 Aug 1868 at Brightside Jane Ridge aged 32 a spinster father Joseph a Bracebit filer

Elizabeth Ridge - widow age 58 - was on Tom Cross Lane in 1861, with Jane, George, Joe and a lodger called George Harris. John Harris is on the next page at 3 Tom Cross Lane, together with his first wife Elizabeth

lost the edit function... the above marriage for Jane.. it did not say Joseph was deceased but we know they did not have to state this.

Heather, was that indexed under Ridge ot mistranscribed?

Thanks to everyone who has replied. I knew I could count on someone from this site finding the family in 1861. I'm sure I looked for Elizabeth but nothing came up????

I had already got Jane's marriage in 1868 so I'll look into Joseph's death now.

John Harris's first wife was Elizabeth Ridge, Jane's older sister.

I don't know how it was indexed, I couldn't find Jane at first either.
I noticed that when Jane married John Harris they were both living on the same street, so I looked for him. The keyword "cab" brought nothing up, but when I used "coachman" he came up straight away. Then I just walked up and down the street a bit and they they were.

Not been able to find Elizabeth Ridge (b 1805) death yet, did she remarry after the 1861 census?

found I think died 1884 aged 80 buried in Burngreave cemetery, lots of people in the grave I wonder if they are all related. I used Elizabeth harris in the search box.

she died 1867 aged 34 (would that be right?)

Her burial is on this site .She died 1884 and is buried with HARRIS family in Burngreave Cemetery.

Just seen your reply John. You beat me to it. The Elizabeth you are referring to is John Harris's first wife.
