Middlewood Hospital records

I have finally found my grandfather listed as dying in South Yorkshire Mental Home which I believe is Middlewood Hospital. This was 1929. Has anyone any hints on finding Middlewood Hospital records please.
Thank you
Avril

Re: Middlewood Hospital records

Sheffield Archives is the best bet, i'm not sure though if the 100 year closure applies.

Have you found him on the 1921 census and if so was he there then?

Many of those who died at the hospital are buried at Wadsley church.
There are not individual graves but a large grassed area with a stone giving details of the numbers buried and years covered.

Re: Middlewood Hospital records

If He was there between 1872-1910 there are records of all the patients admitted

Re: Middlewood Hospital records

No I can’t find him there in 1921

Re: Middlewood Hospital records

Have you spoken to the Sheffield Archives staff ?
There are different types of admissions.
Could he have been admitted as a result of WW1 ?
