Joseph Marsden, baptism

On this sites baptism records there is a Joseph Marsden of Oldworth, baptism 24 Sept 1827. Parents Joshua (cabinet maker) and Ruth, formally Fairest.. can I ask if the original say Joshua or John ?

Re: Joseph Marsden, baptism

David I presume that this is the baptisms you are interested in.

MARSDEN, Joseph (of Oldworth in the chapelry of Bradfield in the county of York, born 1827-07-20).
Baptised September 24, 1827, by M Cullen at Loxley Congregational Chapel, ~.
Parents name(s) are Ruth & Joshua (Cabinet Maker).
Note: Mother formerly Fairest

Having problems spotting the original entry that we used. I remember there seemed to be entries in the St Nicholas registers that also showed up in the Loxley registers.

Dave Thorpe maybe able to help as he was researching both places.
I have a Pdf file for Loxley and he doesn't seem to be on it.My error its of Burials at Loxley.

Is this the entry in our 1841 census index.
Marsden, Joseph of Westfield Terrace, Sheffield West. Aged 14 years.
(Piece #1338/8, folio 38a, enumeration district 19.)

Fingers crossed.

Elaine.

look on FMP. There is a Joseph Marsden born 20 Sep 1827 father John Mother Ruth Fairest

Baptised at Bolsterstone 0n 31st July 1836 with lots of siblings.

On FMP input Joseph Marsden born 1827 place Bradfield Yorkshire and scroll down and you will see the name Joseph Marsden born 1827 baptised 1836 click on view original you will see names and dates of births etc

Re: Joseph Marsden, baptism

Hi John & David,

I have to use the original document that we used to transcribe and check our entry out where possible.

I have now found it and the fathers name is John. I have changed our database.
Thanks for letting me know.

Elaine in Ottawa.

Re: Joseph Marsden, baptism

Hi Elaine

Thanks for confirming it was John. It does now link with the other Marsden children shown on SI baptism's for John Marsden (cabinet maker) & Ruth. Regards
