Question regarding the Birth of Cornelius Whittaker either 1871 or 1880

Did the parents have two children named Cornelius Whittaker???
Talking to the relatives of this family member the date of birth was 7 August 1880
Parents Mother Sarah Elizabeth Broad Father Cornelius Whitaker
Note:- Whittaker has been spelt many ways T or TT
Sheffield Indexes Has this record:-
WHITAKER, Cornelius (of Long Croft, born 1870-11-30).
Baptised January 27, 1871, by C Marriott at St Jude, Moorfields.
Parents name(s) are Sarah Elizabeth & Cornelius (Wire Roller).
The parents are correct its just the baptism and date of birth don't make sense??

The 1939 census has Cornelius Whittaker date of birth as 7 August 1881

Re: Question regarding the Birth of Cornelius Whittaker either 1871 or 1880

Hi Barry

There's a death for a Cornelius Whittaker in 1871 Dec Quarter aged O (Birth has MMN BROAD).
Then a Burial for Cornelius Whitaker, son of Cornelius Whitaker in 1871 Aged 9 months, address Long Croft. Buried 8 Aug 1871 at St Philips.

So it looks they had this Cornelius, who died before his 1st birthday, and then later on they named another child Cornelius in 1880 (MMN BROAD) . Happened a lot!

Just to mention another child of Cornelius buried at Wardsend (St Philip's):

Grave D259
WHITAKER William son of Cornelius buried 14 Oct 1874 aged 1 month, address: Creswick St

Both this and the previously mentioned grave look like public graves, without gravestones.
