I have read agents visited houses from the end of July to check who lived at an address and forwarded the results to the publisher by September.
Would the occupant be listed in that years directory or the following years.?
I am interested because in the 1944 directory a family is recorded at an address and in August of the same year they lived at a different address.

Don't know how the directories were made, but I do know that I appear at an address years after I had left.

I am beginning to think the entries relate to the previous year.
