Re: DEATH NOTICES YORKSHIRE CTY

Hi

The West Riding of Yorkshire covered a large area, see the following link for a list of the different parishes. You would need to be more specific for us to answer this:

Re: DEATH NOTICES YORKSHIRE CTY

Does family search have death notices for sheffield area...???

Re: DEATH NOTICES YORKSHIRE CTY

Hi Janice,

Could you give us a name and a date please.

OR you could check with FreeBMD for for a possible death in 9c registration area.
Thats for Sheffield.

Bradford I believe is 9b.

Elaine in Ottawa.

Re: DEATH NOTICES YORKSHIRE CTY

According to their catalogue, FamilySearch.org has:
England, Yorkshire, Sheffield - Newspapers ( 2 )
England, Yorkshire, Sheffield : Family Notices, 1855-1904
England, Yorkshire, Sheffield : Obituaries, 1855-1904

Looking further, they say: This collection comes from The British Newspaper Archive, and is a collaborative project with FindMyPast.com.

So, the FamilySearch record is likely to be a transcription of the basics (good to start with).

Check out the British Newspaper Archive direct (https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/) or via Find My Past. Your local library may have a subscription to the BNA and/or FindMyPast.
