I checked out a grave at Burngreave cemetary yesterday, Mary Ann Brickley, Grave number 64, Section V5, as I thought she was one of mine. Looking at the others in the grave (husband and nephew), it appears the grave is actually Mary Ann Buckley. I cross referenced to Ancestry and the death date confirms.
Can anyone confirm why the marker (in common with several others I saw) has only the reference number and initials of the original person buried (Mary Ann's husband)? Is this a pauper's marker or a replacement stone, or something different?
Hello Carol
Sorry to say, the name Buckley has been mis-transcibed. I will inform the website.
There are many similar headstones in the cemetery. A graves has to be purchased before a permanent marker can be erected.
