My great Grandparants are buries in Sheffield General Cemetery John Burtles grave 4181 and his wife Grave 4172. I know the memorial stones have been cleared but is there a map showing where the positions were in the cemetery? As a young boy my father took me to his grand mothers grave but that was a long time ago. Regards John Hague

I have looked for John Burtles/Birtles and can not find him.
If you wouldn't mind when you find his information out can you let me know please. I have our transcription and the NBI and he is not on either. Very strange.
I don't recognise the references you gave but I can see 3 burials for the name of John Birtles (No Burtles) at The General cemetery.
Birtles, John died 21 Nov 1887, aged 19 Section W2 plot 62
Birtles, John died 23 Aug 1892, aged 31 Section T plot 7
Birtles, John died 05 Mar 1902, aged 58 Section Q1 plot 108
Thank you Tony for your help, my John Birtles died 5th March and was buried on the 8th March 1902 I have been looking for my G.Grandfather a while and finally found him on the SGCT CD (by accident) I have ordered a death Cert from Sheffield Register Office but I think its coming by Pony express!
