I am looking for information on a John Gaunt died 1861 in Sheffield. He lived at Darnell House (tried looking for Darnell House no luck) and was a Grocer and Soap Boiler. At one time he also lived in Wraith House Oxspring nr. Penistone. Any information would be much appreciated.
From the Sheffield Independent, 3 Nov 1849.

Diary of Dates.
1861 John Gaunt of Darnall House, near Sheffield, died.
He was born at Wraith House,Oxspring, 11 Jan 1786.
He left £500 to be invested, and the dividends paid for repairs to Penistone
Church and £200 with the dividend paid to the schoolmistress of the Girls
National School, Penistone.
Thank you that is very interesting. We have a plaque in the St. Johns Church in Penistone showing the amount of bequests he has left to various organizations. I shall have to delve deeper to see if I can find out more on this John Gaunt. Do you have any idea where Darnall House would have been, or are there any photos anywhere of this House. I have tried Picture Sheffield but nothing shows up on there.
John and his sister Judith were together in Worksop Road Attercliffe (over to the left)
They seem to have been the only 2 children baptised (Penistone) with father Robert in 1786 and 1787 respectively.
Dave.
