Hi
I have traced my great great grandfather Thomas Wynne DOB 1796/7 TO London, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada. Would someone be able to look this up for me please.

Many thanks

Re: Lookup

Hi Elaine

I got the information from Ancestry.co.uk and someone else had come up with the same information as myself. For years I was looking for Thomas Wynne in London, Middlesex, England
and didn't find anything.

Kind Regards

Heather

OK it seems you have your countries mixed up.

Is it England or Canada you have found information on your Thomas?

You have Ancestry.

Is he alive on any of the census in the UK.

How do you know his DOB.

How does he link into your tree?

The one on FMP. Slightly different to what you have.

Thomas W Wynne in 1851
1851 England, Wales & Scotland Census
13, Devonshire Place, St Mary Lambeth, Lambeth, London & Surrey, England

Thomas W Wynne Head
Married Male 57 1794 Messenger Chadwell, Essex, England
Hannah Wynne Wife
Married Female 50 1801 - St Martin's, Middlesex, England

Re: Lookup

Hi
My great grandmother was Mary Ann Wynne dob 1836 born in Prestign, Wales. Her father on the 1851 census is down as Thomas Wynne dob 1797 London Borough.

Hope this helps

Kind regards

Heather

Re: Lookup

Heather I am not having any luck at all tracing them on the 1851 census.

Can you give me exactly what it says for them all especially where they were living.

Re: Lookup

1851 Wales Census
Thomas Wynne age 56,Head, married, ?Hawker, born London(this has been crossed out) Borough
Anne Wynne age 50, Wife, married born Stafford
Mary Anne age 15, daughter, born Radnorch. Prestiger
I think this might be the one we're looking for. I've checked all the Canadian censuses from 1925 to 1851 and there is no Thomas Wynne of an appropriate age in any of them. London, Middlesex, Canada was a settlement as early as 1793 but the first European settlement wasn't until between 1801 and 1805 and it became a village in 1826 in what would have been Upper Canada. Ontario did not become a province until 1867.

Re: Lookup

Should have said the 1851 Wales Census had them in Breconshire Wales.
In 1841 Census there is a Thomas W. Wynne age 45, Bookseller, living with Hannah Wynne age 35 in Lambeth, London. Neither one born in that county and ages rounded. No Mary Ann with them so may not be the right family.

Thank you Helen

Re: Lookup

Hi Heather,

from the 1851 census they were in Hay, Breconshire, Wales.

I have never researched in Wales. I would suggest that is where you need to start.

Our expertise is Sheffield. Yorkshire.

Start by looking for a death in the next 20years.
With Thomas being a Hawker they could and did move around somewhat.

Thats all I can suggest.

Elaine in Ottawa.

Re: Lookup

Hi Elaine
I think Thomas changed his profession later in life as on his daughter Mary Ann's wedding certificate to Thomas Harrison dob 1831 Thomas is down as being a shoemaker. My mother always thought that there were Welsh barons on the Wynne side of the family but l have not come across this.
Thank you for your help

Kind Regards
Heather

Re: Lookup

Heather
Borough in London England is an area in Southwark just south of the Thames.
In 1796 there is a baptism for Thomas Wynne at St James Piccadilly, which is only about 1.5 miles from Borough.
His parents were Thomas and Isabel
