Hello, Is there anyway to see a copy of the original parish record? I have found a transcription that says Patrick Cartavitch was baptized 1891 at St Vincents, Sheffield but I would like to look at the original record to see if there is any additional detail - the transcription does not have parents name or other info. Can anyone help with this? Thanks!

How sure are you that the transcription you have found on FindMyPast is accurate?

There is no Patrick Cartavitch in our database.

I have used FreeBMD and didn't find a birth registration for him anywhere in the UK. Just using Cartavitch doesn't bring up any of that name either.

What other information do you Have?

Hi Elaine - I don't know if it is accurate or not. There is a Martin Cartavitch (my husband's relative) that married in Manchester in 1891. wondering if this was perhaps a son - although they were Lithuanian so the name Patrick isn't very typical. This is what the FindMyPast entry says:

On Family Search there is this baptism: Patricius Kartowicz baptised
5 April 1891 at Sheffield. Father: Sylvestri, Mother: Margaritae.

The family are on the 1901 census at Lambert St. Sheffield. Sylvester
born Russia B.S. and Margaret born Poland.

As you can see the lovely folks on Sheffield Indexers were able to help you.

Family Search as Moira has indicated shows the baptism for

Patricius Kartowicz. It also shows the original register entry. I have been unable to open the DVD I have that we used in our original transcription to send it to you but it states exactly what is on the Family Search entry.

If you can use that you will see that they also have the 1901 census when they are on Lambert St. Surname spelling on that census "Cartwick"
