Cecilia Whitham. Burial 1921

There is a grave in The Church of Ascension (find a grave) for Thomas & Elizabeth Makin. Also the headstone says there is John died 1901 beloved husband of Cecilia Whitham. Trying to find if Cecilia is there also. Also trying to find the link between the Makin/Whitham as Cecilia seemed to have been a Newton? at time of marriage to John Whitham.

Re: Cecilia Whitham. Burial 1921

Hi Dave,

From FreeBMD.
Deaths Mar 1921
Whitham Cecilia 65 Wortley 9c 374

Just a little history that may help you.

S&DFHS transcribed this church for the NBI back in the late 1990's.

I have their records for that but I believe the cut off date was about 1910. Cecilia death registration was indeed 1921 and in Wortley which covers as you know Oughtibridge.

I don't know of any more recent burial information for that church so a trip to the archives I think is the only way to go.

It looks like the link may be the marriage of Thomas Makin to Elizabeth Witham in Sheffield 1866

Hi Dave

I think your probably right. The 1871 show Thomas & Elizabeth Makin together along with 3 Whitham children, so I will keep digging.
