Looking on google maps at the address 15 Wilson Street, Neepsend, Shefield, can anyone identify what the brick wall structures are. There are about 30 stalls, no roofs and no fronts. They appear to run parallel to the railway track. At present time they are being used commercially to store large bins, wires, pipes etc. One thought is possibly horse stalls, but perhaps someone knows the actual use. I would be appreciative if any knows the answer. Thank you Paula in Canada.
Re: 15 Wilson Street, need to identify structures.
Paula,
Agree with pete they look like coal drops used to unload coal from wagons on railway above down onto waiting carts and later onto lorries.Google (other search engines available) for images of the coal drops in Sowerby Bridge West Yorks, these look very similar.
