Hi Can anyone help as I cannot get past these two? James Clarke 1897-1970, Annie Elizabeth Clarke 1889-1963. Could anybody find me a marriage for these two in Sheffield or Rotherham could possibly be a Catholic wedding. thanks.

Could it be the John J A Clarke who married Annie E Gray in Sheffield Q3 1924 Volume 9C Page 1317?

Or was Gray a married name and her maiden name was different?

There is a marriage record on Family Search and BMD websites for a James Clarke to Annie E. Taylor in the March quarter of 1929 at Doncaster.

Had them living together 1939 census at 19 Southend road, the children are closed. Have there Daughter born around 1925 give or take a year. Must have married before then? Thanks for searching regards Barry

On the 1939 reg. we find James and Annie E. at 19 Southland Road Sheffield, James is 42 and a fruit HAWKER, unemployed, Annie is 50,unpaid domestic duties and two redacted entries.

There is a birth on this website for Annie Clarke of 5/4 Solly Street, born 3 March 1925 baptized March 18th 1925 St.Philip's Shalesmoor. Parents: Annie Elizabeth and James (occupation HAWKER). This birth on BMD shows the mmn: as GRAY, there are three other BMD birth records with mmn GRAY for Sheffield- Margaret born 1927 and Doreen B: 1928. There is also a death for a Margaret Clarke in 1928 which could account for only two redacted entries on the 1939 reg.
