I have a Lily Barker who was born at 64 Sussex St on 28 Oct 1893 with no fathers name on birth certificate . I cannot find her on 1901 census. Her mother was 18 year old Susannah Barker born 1875 who I can't find on census returns for 1881 & 1891 so have no idea of Lily's grandparents. Does anyone know how I can find out who lived at 64 Sussex St in 1891 census & which parish it would be in please?
Many thanks, John
If you go to our Parish Records and enter the address only just to see what comes up.

Hi John, Sussex St was Furnival Rd to Effingham Rd so that would be attercliffe.
Regards Barry Green
Thanks Barry. Sadly there was no Lily Barker baptsied at Christ church attercliffe .
Thanks Elaine, Susannah was born about 1875 though so 1838 isn't her.
With a bit of clicking about, you can search the 1891 census by address in FMP.
In the 1891 census William and Mary J Walker (36 and 26 years old respectively) and their children William, Annie, and Ethel (6, 4, and 1) were living at 64 Sussex Street.
William was still there in September because he was advertising for a lost fox-terrier pup (Sheffield Daily Telegraph - Wednesday 13 September 1893).
They could have moved out just after though, who knows?
First the address of 64 Sussex St. As I said just enter the address no name and two names come up Barker and Pitt. Lilly in 1893 & William in 1894. My initial thought was that the Barker family had moved on.
BUT..... Looking at my Alan Godfry map it appears that Sussex St were ALL Back to Back houses. So two families same address. She was baptised at Emmanual Attercliffe and William at St Johns Park.
On the baptisms page it states that Lillys mother was Susanna(h).
I then looked at the Gro index. BARKER, LILY -
GRO Reference: 1893 D Quarter in SHEFFIELD Volume 09C Page 545

MarriageFinder ™
Susannah Barker married one of these people
William Goodison, Charles Edley Brashaw, Arthur Thomas Booker I think there could be one male missing.?????
Certificates may be called for.
I am am having a problem getting into the Sheffield Council site to see how many and where these Susannah Barkers are from.
Dont discard those early Susannah Barkers it could be a family name.
In 1881 there is a Susannah Barker born 1875 living with her parents and siblings in Brightside Bierlow. Have you eliminated her?
Dave
Hi Dave T, Thanks, I had found that census entry & have spent hours trying to find mother’s maiden name, their marriage details & other census entries & have failed on all items !! So it may be the Susannah I want but so far can’t prove it !
Thanks again, John
