Has anyone done research on the history of Quakers in Sheffield? I am seeking to find information about Quakers in the Stocksbridge and Penistone areas from the 1700s onwards. I particularly would like to know the numbers and any names of people involved and the meeting places used.
Can anyone help or provide me with a possible starting point? Thank you.
For the High Flatts Meeting, including the Penistone & Stocksbridge areas, I thoroughly recommend D Bower & J Knight: Plain Country Friends, Wooldale Quakers 1987.
I also have information on the Earnshaw, Haigh and Dickinson families.
